Jakarta Contingent Wins Third Place in Peparnas XVII Solo

The Jakarta contingent, which was initially targeted to reach the top five, instead managed to rank third in the National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) XVII in Solo, Central Java.

It is the first time to enter the third rank in the Peparnas event

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency Head, Andri Yansyah expressed his gratitude and pride for the achievements of Jakarta Contingent at Peparnas XVII.

He asserted the result was beyond prediction. Initially, Jakarta only targeted to win 25 gold medals, but at the end, Jakarta's gold medal haul reached 39.

"This is a very extraordinary achievement. It is the first time to enter the third rank in the Peparnas event," he expressed.

He appreciated the work of the entire Jakarta Contingent team, starting from athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, assistants, officials, NPCs, and other supporting teams.

He also expressed his gratitude to Jakarta Acting Governor, City Secretary, and Jakarta DPRD and other related elements, thus the Peparnas went smoothly and Jakarta was ranked third.

Despite they were ranked third, they would still conduct an overall evaluation so that they would perform better in the future.

As for the information, this sporting event for disabled athletes, which took place from October 6 to 13 was attended by 35 provinces in Indonesia.

Of the total of 20 sports competed in the Peparnas XVII Solo, the Jakarta contingent only participated in 13 sports.

Here is the order of the top five medal winners:

1. Central Java with 161 gold, 121 silver and 124 bronze

2. West Java with 120 gold, 116 silver and 118 bronze

3. Jakarta with 39 gold, 29 silver and 36 bronze

4. Papua with 33 gold, 44 silver and 40 bronze

5. North Sumatra with 28 gold, 26 silver and 19 bronze
