Commission B Legislator Remind of Importance of Maintaining Food Commodity Availability

Jakarta DPRD Commission B Legislator, Muhammad Taufik Zoelkifli reminded the Jakarta Provincial Government to ensure the availability and stability of food prices ahead of Christmas and New Year.

According to him, the increase in demand ahead of religious holidays must be anticipated. Hence, the Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Agency (KPKP) together with BUMDs in the food cluster must work well.

"We have warned related agencies and BUMDs to always monitor demand and supply. So, the need will increase, so we have to maintain it," he expressed, Wednesday (10/23).

He explained if the stock of food commodities is sufficient and the prices remain affordable, then the people will not experience difficulties and unrest.

"The food supply chain from the supplier area needs to be maintained. Thus, the supply of basic necessities continues to run well and can meet the demands of the community," he explained.

He hoped that good synergy between Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) and related BUMDs would create stability in the stock and price of food commodities.

"For Jakarta, it is their responsibility to ensure that the availability and price are stable," he explained.

He believes that the simultaneous regional elections which are also held in supplier areas will not impact the supply and distribution of food in Jakarta.

"So far, it hasn't been too affected by the regional elections in the region," he stated.
