Acting Governor Teguh Ensures Operational Readiness of Flood Handling Infrastructure

Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi visited the Green Garden Pump House, Kedoya Utara, West Jakarta, Wednesday (11/6).

The visit was aimed to make sure the readiness of flood handling infrastructure operational in order to face rainy season and flood in Jakarta.
Teguh said that Green Garden Pump House is part of structural flood mitigation effort in West Jakarta. The infrastructure is functioned to minimize inundation that often occurred around Jalan Panjang and Green Garden Housing Complex.

Previously, Teguh also visited Pluit Reservoir Pump House and collected data about food areas in North Jakarta. Teguh appealed pump houses maintenance must be taken care to get smooth operation.
"Maintenance also includes other supporting facilities and infrastructure, as well as improving human resources. Community participation is needed by not littering," he added.
He continued that Jakarta Provincial Government keeps cooperating with various parties in optimizing flood handling in Jakarta. It includes cooperating with BMKG to predict the weather.
"We cooperate with BMKG to predict the weather in Jakarta day by day, and where is the exact position. It is important to know where the rain will fall. I also request related Regional Organizations to be ready," he continued.
Related to inundation in South Jakarta due to heavy rain several days ago, Teguh appreciated the quick handling. But he also noted several things that must be handled immediately such as water channels.
"Mostly the water channels have been dredged. I appeal the assistant and agency to keep working. Find out of the box solution if it is necessary," he stated.
Meanwhile, Acting Jakarta Water Resource Agency Head, Ika Agustin Ningrum, explained that peak of rainy season to fall in January and February, as reported by BMKG. Various preparations for the rainy season have been and will continue to be carried out.
"We prepare mobile pump at five administration areas, and areas prone to inundation. Please contact us on 112 through BPBD or JAKI application for areas we have not handled yet," she said.
Moreover, RW 02 Kedoya Utara Head, Mahrup Usman, appreciated the construction of Green Garden Pump House as it is useful for local residents.
"There were 1,446 people affected by flood here. We faced waist height-flood in 2020. Now we never face it again. It is normal if the water is not flowing smoothly due to blocked by trash or something. We appreciate the construction of Green Garden Pump House," he admitted.
