16,698 PKL in W. Jakarta Settled Social and Public Facilities

As many as 338 points of street vendors stall in West Jakarta stand on social and public facilities owned by Jakarta Provincial Government.

The most important is, the road is not a main road passed by many vehicles. The trading hours have been scheduled only start from 5.30 AM to 9.00 AM

Those points are spread in 8 sub-districts, including in Tambora 52 points, Kalideres 46 points, Grogol Petamburan 52 points, Palmerah 39 points, Kebon Jeruk 39 points, Cengkareng 43 points, Taman Sari 44 points, and Kembangan 23 points with total 16.698 street vendors.

Head of West Jakarta Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperatives Sub-Department, Slamet Widodo stated, social and public facilities used are on sidewalks, road, water channel and park. One of them is on Jalan Pengairan, Tanjung Duren Selatan Urban Village using road with scheduled trading hours.

"The most important is, the road is not a main road passed by many vehicles. The trading hours have been scheduled only start from 5.30 AM to 9.00 AM," he asserted, Wednesday (4/20).

In future, he expressed, the location could be used temporarily. Yet, it should be surveyed first by State Level Advisory Team.

Being used as temporary location, he added, some requirements should be fulfilled including using social and public facilities  only partially and needed by local people.

"Besides that the land area of the vendors must not wider than 3x3 meters," he disclosed.
