C. Jakarta Mayor Assures Pump Houses Work Well

Central Jakarta Mayor, Arifin, monitored the readiness of Senen Underpass and Jalan Angkasa Underpass pump houses, Kemayoran Sub-district yesterday.

According to him, both underpasses are strategic road areas. But, if the pumps were not operating during the rainy season, the underpass would be flooded.

"All is good and we ensure no problems at the peak of the rain this time," he expressed, Tuesday (12/ 3).

He went on to say that if the underpass was flooded, it would cause traffic jams around Jalan Kramat Raya, Jalan Senen Raya, Gunung Sahari, and Jalan Samanhudi.

He also ensured the readiness of personnel who would be on standby to operate the pumps during the rainy season.

"Earlier, I also checked the SOP and measures to deal with heavy rain. Hopefully, if there is heavy rain for a long time there won't be any flooding," he asserted.

Central Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency Head, Muhammad Soleh explained the Senen Underpass is equipped with four pump units, each with 100 liters per second capacity.

Then at Jalan Angkasa Underpass, there are four pump units, two units with 100 liters per second capacity and two units with 116 liters per second capacity.

As for the number of personnel on standby at the Senen Underpass Pump House is six and four at Jalan Angkasa Underpass.

"Indeed, of all the pumps, some are in the process of routine maintenance repairs. But, in general, we ensure that the pumps are ready to operate optimally," he stated.
