Bina Marga Agency Ensures Underpass Pumps are in Top Condition

The Jakarta Bina Marga Agency ensures the reliability and readiness of each underpass pump in facing the increasing rainfall in recent days. The readiness starts from the operation of the pump to CCTV to monitor the area around the underpass.

Currently, the Jakarta Bina Marga Agency manages 17 underpasses equipped with pump houses as supporting facilities for water control around the underpass areas spread across five areas of the city.

Bina Marga Data and Information Center Head, Wiwik Wahyuni stated there were cables/panels in several underpass pump locations suspected of being vandalized/theft. It caused the pumps and CCTV installed at the location to not operate.

The underpass locations affected by the theft/vandalism included Kebayoran Lama, Jamblang, Tomang, Senen, and Kuningan underpasses.

"We conduct repairs immediately without wasting time and now the underpass pump at that location is operating normally again," she expressed, Wednesday (11/13).

Due to this incident, the Jakarta Public Works Agency is making efforts to ensure that the incident does not happen again, either at the same location and/or at other locations, with the following efforts:

a. Bina Marga Sub-agency shall conduct the following matters:

1. Ensure that the underpass pump officers on duty remain on standby at their respective locations according to the predetermined work schedule

2. Monitor the operation of the underpass pump and ensure that the pump and its supporting components are in good condition and/or can be operated

b. Bina Marga Data and Information Center to conduct the following matters:

1. Conduct visual monitoring of the underpass via CCTV located in the Jakarta Public Works Service Command Center Room located on the 11th Floor of the Jatibaru Technical Agency Building, Central Jakarta administration

2. Follow up and report immediately if there is a CCTV that is not working, thus the underpass pump manager will increase their alertness

"All ranks have been asked to report the incident of theft of the underpass pump cable or panel to the Police. We have coordinated with the Police from Polda Metro Jaya on November 10, 2024," he stated.
