Djarot Appeals Citizens Supervising Distribution of Synthetic Rice

Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat appealed Jakarta citizens to report immediately if they find synthetic rice. Considering, it is very dangerous and can kill somebody if it is consumed.

As conveyed by Djarot related to the detection of synthetic rice in Bekasi, West Java. According to him, the synthetic rice is still not found in Jakarta. But in his supervision, citizens are appealed to participate.

"There is still no report to me. If it is found, its production location must be reported and also its consumer," said Djarot, in IRTI Monas Field, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (5/20).

Former Mayor of Blitar claimed furious at the perpetrator who is purposely selling the synthetic rice. Regarding people who eat the food could be killed. 

"It's brash, people could be killed eating the rice," he asserted. As known, a porridge seller at Mutiara Gading Residence, Bekasi Timur, Bekasi City, Dewi Septiani (29), found rice particles that allegedly were made of plastics. 

Septiani bought 6 liters of rice in her regular shop by Rp 8,000 per liter. She felt the oddity of the rice when it was cooked to be porridge. The result was not maximal even it smelled bad like stale rice.

Her sister, Putri Novaliany (27), was trying to consume the porridge . After she ate it, she felt queasy and dizzy. Luckily there was nobody buying the porridge yet. Since the incident, both decided not to sell and reported it to the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM). 

The citizens then appealed to be careful buying rice. It needs to be checked beforehand. Usually the synthetic rice particles look plain and without fiber. While the real rice usually have fiber and have color white milk in the middle.
