E. Jakarta Acting Head: Concern and Solidarity to Prevent HIV/AIDS must Be Increased

East Jakarta Acting Head, Iin Mutmainah urged all elements of society and government officials to increase their concern and solidarity in efforts to prevent the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

I also urge all parties to actively promote the values ​​of anti-stigma

The statement above was conveyed in the commemoration of World AIDS Day (WAD) 2024 in the Pola Room, Floor 2, Block A, East Jakarta Mayor's Office last Thursday. The event took the theme "Equal Rights and Together We Can".

She added this momentum was also expected to strengthen the commitment to combat HIV/AIDS with more effective concrete steps in East Jakarta.

"Surely, the support of the government, residents, NGOs, and other related parties, is a very effective collaborator, to combat HIV/AIDS," she added.

In line with the theme of HAS 2024 'Equal Rights and Together We Can', he hoped that it would enable people with HIV (ODHIV), people with HIV and AIDS (ODHA), and children with HIV (ADHIV) to get their rights and live independently.

"I also urge all parties to actively promote the values ​​of anti-stigma and discrimination against PLHIV, PLHIV, and ADHIV," she explained.

She went on to say that eliminating stigma and discrimination was an important effort in the successful eradication of HIV/AIDS by 2030. To smoothen it, cross-program and cross-sector support was very important.

"Eliminate negative stigma, no discrimination. Hopefully, in East Jakarta, no new infections, deaths, and stigma," she continued.

East Jakarta City AIDS Protection Commission Secretary, John Marbun added the number of AIDS infection cases in East Jakarta had decreased. Over two years, the number of sufferers dropped from 6,000 to 5,000.

"We're grateful for the decline. Earlier, we also agreed on a joint commitment to controlling and preventing HIV/AIDS in East Jakarta," he uttered.
