Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi attended and was a spoke person at the National Conference themed 'Optimizing Hygiene and Sanitation of Food Processing Facilities for the Quality and Benefits of Sustainable Nutritious Breakfast' held by the Indonesian Environmental Health Experts Association (HAKLI), at the RA Suite Simatupang, Jalan TB Simatupang, Cilandak, South Jakarta, Saturday (12/7).

Teguh delivered a presentation on the Supporting Power of Regional Governments in the Implementation of The Nutritious Breakfast Program Through Supervision of Hygiene and Sanitation Quality.

According to a research, Teguh said, nutritious breakfast helps maintain a healthy weight and supports long-term health as well as improves concentration and performance.

In order to avoid the food consumed turns into a disease, Teguh added, nutritious breakfast must come from good raw materials and be processed through a kitchen that implements good sanitation hygiene. There are several Regional Working Units (SKPD) play a role in providing nutritious food in Jakarta.

As a support for regional governments in supervising the quality of food hygiene and sanitation, it is important to run ready-to-eat food safety training carried out by Health Agency, coaching and supervision of food processing facilities by the Health Center Environmental Sanitarians and the issuance of SLHS for food processing facilities that have met standards by the PMPTSP Agency.

Teguh continued that providing environmental sanitarian personnel in each health center is also part of implementing the regional government's support in monitoring the quality of sanitation hygiene. The personnel will carry out supervision and guidance of food processing facilities.

"Food processing facilities supervision in the health center work area is carried out at least once a year," Teguh said.

Teguh explained that Jakarta Provincial Government also implements Healthy Canteen coaching. The program is being trialed in school canteens, canteens fostered by MSMEs and canteens at Regional Hospital.

"Training and mentoring are carried out in the canteen for the implementation of a healthy canteen," Teguh explained.

Teguh emphasized the importance of local governments' role in ensuring the quality of hygiene and sanitation in food processing areas.

"In supporting central government's direction, we are ready for it as well as ensuring budget allocation ," he added.

Furthermore, Jakarta Provincial Government will cooperate with related ministries to ensure hygiene certification for free food providers. Environmental health inspection personnel are also involved in order to support program implementation.

"Health Agency together with other institutions and organizations are ready to carry out the supervision. We will also work together with HAKLI that has administrators in each province. Meeting will be held to discuss their contribution further," he stated.
