Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi handed over in cash awards for winning athletes at the Natioal Sports Week (PON) XXI and National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) XVII, at the Great Hall, City Hall, Monday (12/9).

In his speech, he congratulated, thanked and appreciated the success of the athletes who won medals and the overall championship title in several sports.
"This is an extraordinary achievement. It also reflects the great abilities of athletes, coaches and assistant coaches and the entire contingent, to make Jakarta's name famous at the national level," he expressed.

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) Head, Andri Yansyah added this award is a form of appreciation from the Jakarta Government for the contribution of athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, record breakers and General Champions of the Sports Branch who have brought honor to Jakarta's name in national-level sports events.
"Hope it can motivate sports people who have struggled to continuously excel in other sporting events," he continued.
He explained they won 184 gold medals, 150 silver medals and 145 bronze medals at PON XXI Aceh - North Sumatra 2024 held from September 8 to 20. They even also broke records in 18 match numbers and won the championship in 19 sports.
"Meanwhile, awards are given to 790 athletes, 169 coaches, 201 assistant coaches, 35 people from 18 record-breaking match numbers with a total award budget for PON XXI by Rp 370.47 billion," he explained.
They also won 39 gold medals, 29 silver medals and 36 bronze medals at Peparnas XVII 2024 held from October 6 to 13, where three sports broke records.
"We give awards to 76 athletes, 38 coaches, 49 assistant coaches and three record-breaking athletes with a total award budget by Rp 53.41 billion," he stated.
