Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi, inaugurated the construction of the Centralized Domestic Wastewater Management System (
SPALD-T ) in TB Simatupang area, South Jakarta. We need to talk about service standards issues
He is grateful for the construction of wastewater management through a pipe network in TB Simatupang area as it also aims to support Jakarta's transformation into a Global City.
He explained Perumda Paljaya keeps developing SPALD-T, which aims to provide more effective urban wastewater management services with a wide range of service recipients.
Residential Scale SPALD-T Construction in Two Locations Completed"I think the development here is also a strategic location because it is a combination of a central commercial activity area, as well as a residential area," he expressed, at groundbreaking location for SPALD-T construction, Perumda PAM Jaya Water Treatment Plant, Cilandak, South Jakarta, Tuesday (12/10).
All stakeholders such as mayors, sub-district heads, urban village heads and environmental administrators were instructed to hold outreach regarding the development, including the potential for traffic jams during construction.
"Please understand and ask for your support so that this development process can run smoothly. So, our commitment to providing clean water and good wastewater management for residents can be realized immediately," he explained.
Currently, the Jakarta Government is making efforts to meet the target of 100 percent clean water service coverage by 2030.
"We need to talk about service standards issues, especially those related to basic services," he explained.
Perumda Paljaya President Director, Untung Suryadi explained the SPALD-T whose construction was inaugurated today will function to channel and process domestic wastewater from residential and commercial areas in TB Simatupang area at the Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPALD) located at Cilandak IPA.
"The processing technology used is the Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) and is projected to serve around 114,000 people in Pasar Minggu, Kebayoran Lama and Cilandak sub-districts," he uttered.
According to him, it could increase the coverage of safe sanitation access services while also supporting the achievement of Jakarta's Minimum Service Standards (SPM) in the wastewater sector.
"This is in accordance with the mandate of Presidential Regulation Number 2/2018, where every house must have at least one access to domestic wastewater treatment which is classified as safe sanitation access," he explained.
He uttered the difference between SPALD-T and the use of individual wastewater that is usually used, such as using a septic tank, is that it is not only wastewater from the toilet that is treated.
It is because both black water and grey water will all be channeled through a separate pipe network and will no longer pollute the drainage.
"It is a real step, to manage and protect water resources, especially from pollution due to untreated domestic waste, while also improving the health of Jakarta residents," he uttered.
Perumda PAM Jaya Presidential Director, Arief Nasrudin uttered the SPALD-T groundbreaking location in TB Simatupang area is the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) with a 9.9-hectare-wide land.
"We also tell the public that we're building a pipeline network in Jakarta in 2024 with a target of 50,000 connections and next year we're targeting 130,000 pipeline connections to be implemented," he closed.
