He, who served as Governor of Jakarta from June 15 to October 15, 2017, also hopes that Jakarta will keep cooperating with the central government and other countries.
"We must continue to develop Jakarta into a city with good governance that can build cooperative relationships with the central government and also governments of countries around the world," he expressed, when being met at Bentang Harapan Jakarta (JakASA) event, at Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday (12/31).
Acting Governor Teguh Prompts HMI to Take Part in Making Jakarta a Global CityTo make Jakarta a global city, he emphasized there should be a government that was clean, serving, innovative, and able to enforce the rules firmly, as well as to build a disciplined character of Jakartans.
"Sustainable mapping is also important, to recontinue the previous programs, thus the city of Jakarta will more quickly become a global city facing the next five centuries," he explained.
Even, he highlighted problems in Jakarta that must be resolved immediately, such as tidal floods, traffic jams, and others. It was a major challenge in realizing Jakarta's vision as a livable global city.
To overcome traffic jam problem, he suggested that public transportation in Jakarta should be maximized, including improving public transportation fleet services and operations.
"We're also still facing floods and fires, and of course this is our homework to complete towards a global city that is comfortable to live in," he closed.
