Acting Governor Teguh Launches Bentang Harapan's Giant Cloth for Jakarta's Future

Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi launched the Bentang Harapan Jakarta (JakASA) event at City Hall, Tuesday (12/31).

Teguh said the event is a moment to write message of hope for Jakarta's future.
"We write our hope today, and we'll open it again at the 500th anniversary of Jakarta on June 22, 2027. Let's see together the changes in the future," he said.
Seven Bentang Harapan Banners Installed at East Jakarta Mayor OfficeDuring the event, Jakarta Provincial Government stretched out a white cloth along 80 meter at City Hall and 70 meter at mayor and regent offices.
The cloth with total lenght of 500 meter will be installed on Jalan MH Thamrin - Jalan Jenderal Sudirman during Car Free Day in January 2025. The cloth then will be stored and reopened on June 22, 2027.
"500 meter means 500th anniversary of Jakarta. Hopefully we are able together to reach the target there," he added.
At the same moment, Teguh continued that he is optimistic with Jakarta's future. There is a transformation of Jakarta from the nation's capital into a competitive global city.
Teguh also invited all communities to participate in designing Jakarta's future to realize Jakarta as a global city.
The event was attended by former Jakarta Governors and other officials. Those are Sutiyoso, Fauzi Bowo, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Djarot Saidul Hidayat, Soni Sumarsono, and Anies Baswedan.
Then the elected Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor, Pramono Anung-Rano Karno, Religion Minister Nazarudddin Umar, Deputy Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Ahmad Riza Patria, Jakarta City Council Chairman Khoirudin and Jakarta City Council Deputy Chairwoman Ima Mahdiah.
PT Tempo Inti Media Tbk Director, Arif Zulkifli, during his speech, stated that Jakarta's five-century celebration is not only a celebration, but also a moment to reflect on Jakarta's long history and formulate future's vision.
"We are not starting from zero. Jakarta has been a global city since the VOC era. The city was a stopover for foreign traders," he stated.
Therefore, Arif invited the public to participate actively in designing Jakarta's future to make Jakarta a better city. This can be done through the Bentang Harapan Jakarta (JakASA).
