Cempaka Putih Sub-district Sub-district, Central Jakarta, commits to improve the environmental quality through the stop open defecation (BABS) movement.

Cempaka Putih Sub-district Head, R Igan Faizal explained the stop BABS program has been started since five years ago. Three urban village have declared it such as Cempaka Putih Barat Urban Village (2022), Cempaka Putih Timur (2019) and Rawasari Urban Village (2023).

According to him, the Community-Based Total Sanitation
(STBM) were carried out to resolve BABS problem by constructing communal septic tanks in several areas. As the example, it was constructed at RW 04 Cempaka Putih Timur Urban Village to facilitate seven families.Then communal septic tank at RW 05 Cempaka Putih Barat Urban Village to facilitate 105 families. Communal septic tank at RW 01 and RW 04 Rawasari Urban Village to facilitate 25 families.
"Education will still remain be continued for residents to avoid BABS," he added.
Moreover, Cempaka Putih Barat Urban Village Head, Annisa Titisunda, admitted about 105 families have utilized the communal septic tank constructed at RPTRA Mardani Asri's land.
This communal septic tank is able to accommodate up to 250 families.
"The communal septic tank assists the residents much. It still operates well too," she admitted.
