Education and Collaboration are Key to free Jakarta from BABS

Jakarta City Council's Commission D Member, Nabilah Aboebakar Alhabsyi appreciated the number of RW to be free from Open Defecation (BABS) is increasing . In fact, she reminded, the effort to realize Jakarta free from BABS must be continued.

Challenge to be faced, she added, is not only about infrastructure, but also changing people's behavior. Strengthening educational campaign by involving community leaders and local communities can be one of solutions.
"Community-based approaches are very effective," she added.
She continued that the efforts should involve private and non-profit organization through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Moreover, she appealed Jakarta Provincial Government to improve the sanitation access for residents as well as running the routine monitoring and maintenance of the facilities.
"Monitoring team can be provided at urban village level to ensure the sanitation facilities are in well condition," she stated.
