2025 E-Prix Must Bring Positive Impact, Commission B Legislator Says

Jakarta is about to host the international electric car race, E-Prix (Formula E) on June 21, 2025. Jakarta City Council's Commission B Legislator, Dwi Rio Sambodo hopes the event will bring positive impact.

Rio wants the environmentally-friendly race to be enjoyed by many people with easy and affordable accessibility.

"It aims to increase the tourism visit," he said, Wednesday (1/22).

Rio suggested the Jakarta E-Prix ticket price can be also used to access various tourism sites in Jakarta. This effort will give interesting stimulus for tourists.

"This should be a concern for the event organizer," he added.

According to him, this event could be a momentum to encourage the electric vehicle growth in Indonesia. The electric vehicle charging infrastructure is one of the example.

He continued that the event is inline with the central government's policy in providing incentives for the electric car purchase. That's why the electric car was sold 43,188 units last year.

Central government's commitment giving subsidy by cutting VAT up to 10 percent can not be separated from the Jakarta E-Prix role.

Rio believes that the Jakarta E-Prix event will boost the economy growth in Jakarta especially for MSMEs sector.

"It means the MSMEs can get the advantage from this event or other events," he admitted.
