I need to see a change in anticipating the flood
It was stated by Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno while visiting mud dredging on Krukut River, Jalan NIS, Cilandak Timur, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, Friday (2/21).
"Now we see the dredging on Krukut River, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta and to be continued to Mookervart River, Jalan Daan Mogot, Rawa Buaya. I need to see a change in anticipating the flood or the problem remains exist," Rano said.
Channels Dredging in Monas Area to Be Completed by MarchRano explained there are problems in the dredging. Those are river width and narrow road. The problems made the heavy equipment owned by Water Resources Agency can not dredge the mud easily.
"The current width of the Krukut River is only four meters. The embankment is still made of soil, causing water to overflow when the water debit is high and the distance between the connecting bridges in the Krukut River is short, making the dredging process using heavy equipment difficult," Rano explained.
Rano admitted that river dredging is part of 100 working days program under Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.
"The dredging can not be done in a day, especially if there is still obstacle. But we'll find the solution," Rano continued.
According to him, Jakarta Provincial Government is about to provide socialization related to dredging and relocation for residents living on riverbank to Jakarta Provincial Government's flat.
"We have talked with the residents and the want to be relocated. I believe they do not want being flooded every day," Rano added.
After visiting the dredging on Krukut River, Rano Karno continued his visit to Mookervart River, Jalan Daan Mogot, Rawa Buaya.
The dredging on Mookervart River along 1,040 meters with 30 meters width and one meter height is targeted to dredge 31,200 cubic meters of mud. It is planned that four excavators and 15 dump trucks will be deployed up to August 31, 2025.
During his visit, Rano Karno was accompanied by Jakarta Regional Secretary, Marullah Matali; Jakarta Regional Secretary's Assistant of Governmental, Sigit Wijatmoko; Acting Jakarta Water Resources Agency, Ika Agustin Ningrum; South Jakarta Mayor Munjirin, and West Jakarta Mayor, Uus Kuswanto.
