North Jakarta Government conducted a field inspection on the damaged and dusty roads on Jalan RE Martadinata in Papanggo Urban Village and Jalan Ketel in Ancol Urban Village, Pademangan.
"Today we directly observed the condition and identified the root problems,"
North Jakarta Environmental Development Section's Public Works Sub-group Head, Fahmi Zulfikar stated, this inspection followed up on the North Jakarta Mayor-level meeting on February 21, which addressed public reports and complaints regarding the roads' poor condition.
Six Heavy Equipment to Dredge Pluit Reservoir Spillway Area"Today we directly observed the condition and identified the root problems. It turns out that the dusty road on Jalan RE Martadinata is caused by the damaged and muddy Jalan Ketel," he conveyed, Tuesday (2/25).
According to him, Jalan Ketel is divided into two, the west side belongs to Jakarta Provincial Government and the east side blongs to PT Pelindo. However, due to PT Pelindo's road elevation, the provincial government's road section has become lower, resulting in puddles and mud.
"Jalan Ketel serves as access to the dumping site of PLTU Ancol, so every day, dump trucks loaded with mud pass through. It is suspected that the falling mud has caused this road to become muddy," he explained.
This inspection involved several companies that dump sludge into Ancol PLTU, including PT CNMP, PT Pelindo, PT Ekanuri, PT MRT Jakarta, and PT Holcim.
According to him, the initial step to anticipate the damaged and muddy Jalan Ketel is to normalize the channel through North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency.
"Next, the section of Jalan Ketel owned by the Provincial Government will also be elevated by North Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency this year," he asserted.
He hopes that repairing the 10-square-meter section of Jalan Ketel will alleviate the problems on Jalan RE Martadinata.
"For dust and mud on Jalan RE Martadinata, we have implemented emergency handling by cleaning it daily. However, since truck transporting mud frequently passes through, it's challenging for us to completely resolve the issue; we can only minimize it," he said.
Meanwhile, North Jakarta City Council Member, Saiful Abu Gozala appreciated the city's prompt response to the problem.
"I hope the repairs can be carried out immediately as it affects other roads. I also urge companies in the local neighborhood to participate in maintaining the repaired road so it won't be muddy and full of mud like this," he mentioned.
