70 East Jakarta Gulkarmat Personnel Assist in Flood Evacuations

East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency deployed 70 personnel to assist in evacuating residents whose houses were flooded to the safer places.

"We focus on evacuating residents living along the Ciliwung River,"

East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency's Operation Section Head, Abdul Wahid said that eight rubber boats and six rescue cars were also deployed to support the evacuation.

"We focus on evacuating residents living along the Ciliwung River, such as Jalan Raya Kalibata, Bidara Cina, Cawang, and Kampung Pulo," he conveyed while evacuating residents on Jalan Raya Kalibata, Cililitan Urban Village, Kramat Jati Sub-district, on Tuesday (3/4).

He urged residents to prioritize their safety and be willing to evacuate to a safer place.

"All Gulkarmat sectors across 10 sub-districts in East Jakarta have put their rescue teams on standby to respond promptly to public assistance requests, including evacuating residents from flooded houses," he mentioned.

According to him, the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency has also deployed its operational service vehicles to handle the inundation.

"In Cipinang Melayu, floodwater is currently being drained. One pump car unit and five personnel have been deployed to handle it," he stated.

So far, he said, there have been no reports of missing residents, only the impacts of overflowing Ciliwung River.

"There have been numerous requests for evacuation. We are continuing to sweep the area," he expressed.
