He also conveyed Amnesty International Indonesia's readiness to collaborate with the Jakarta Government in efforts to enhance human rights protection and address the impacts of climate change.

Amnesty International Secretary General, Agnes Callamard expressed her concerns about the increasingly evident impacts of climate change in Jakarta, such as land subsidence, air pollution, and flooding.

Regarding flood management, she revealed the response from the Jakarta Governor who stated that the Jakarta Government has been making efforts to maintain the environment, including preserving air quality.

"He (Mr. Pramono) says managing floods is indeed not easy, including in the context of maintaining environmental quality. However, he also says environmental maintenance and air quality monitoring have been conducted," she added.

She added flooding is one of the impacts of climate change that occurs in various countries. Therefore, she also emphasized the importance of the responsibility of industrialized countries in addressing the impacts of climate change.

She also highlighted the occurrence of deforestation or forest clearing as one of the main causes of flooding. Therefore, forest sustainability must continue to be maintained.

"Nevertheless, Indonesia with its forests is one of the world's lungs that is very important. Therefore, we deeply regret the irresponsible deforestation," she added.

Then she also highlighted the importance of protecting freedom of expression and assembly in Jakarta. She wants the Jakarta provincial government and security forces to ensure that there are no repressive actions against freedom of expression.

"One of the government's most important responsibilities is to protect the people in Jakarta," she closed.
