He interacted directly with traders to get information on current market conditions. He also reviewed the availability of various food commodities, such as vegetables and fruits.
Afterward, he conveyed that the market's food stock is more than enough to meet the needs of the community during the fasting month and the Idulfitri celebrations.
Governor Invites Jakarta Chamber of Commerce to Participate in Developing Business Climate in Jakarta"This morning, I specifically came to the Kramat Jati Wholesale Market, which is the main food supply chain center in Jakarta. I've already walked around and checked some prices. Alhamdulillah (Thank God), the stock seems relatively available," he expressed, Monday (3/10).
Despite there was a slight stock shortage in early March 2025 that caused prices hikes, overall, the prices of basic commodities are currently stable, and some have declined.
Then, he admitted, the price of red cayenne pepper is still increasing. While the price of fresh meat has increased and frozen meat is still stable.
"Overall, it can be concluded that the stock in the Kramat Jati market is more than enough to face Ramadhan and Idulfitri," he explained.
To maintain price stability and food supply, the Jakarta Government sent 10 trucks of food supplies every day as part of food subsidies to several areas experiencing stock shortages. The market operation would be conducted at 296 locations.
Aside that, they also made contract farming and collaborated with other regions to overcome food shortages, including chilies.
"Today, every day, we dispatch 10 trucks to provide subsidies in areas that, for instance, experience stock shortages," he added.
He also asked the Perumda Pasar Jaya Director, Agus Himawan, to immediately address any food supply shortages. He ensured, the Jakarta Government would keep monitoring food stocks and prices in Jakarta.
Perumda Pasar Jaya Director, Agus Himawan explained food subsidies were implemented by selling food below market prices to the public.
"So, we sell to the public but at a price below market," he explained.
Meanwhile, a trader at the Kramat Jati Central Market, Trisna (55) revealed that there had been a price hike in red chili commodities, rising to Rp 40,000 per kilogram from previously Rp 30,000. It was due to high demand during Ramadhan and leading up to Idulfitri.
"It will usually start to go down again after Idulfitri," she admitted.
The same statement also came from another trader, Najib (27). The price of cayenne pepper had actually decreased, from the previous Rp 60,000 per kilogram to Rp 45,000.
"Just dropped about a week ago. Supply is plentiful again," he stated.
