Environmental Agency Invites Residents Visiting Rorotan RDF

Jakarta Environmental Agency received a visit from residents who conveyed their aspiration related to the cessation of Rorotan Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), Cilincing District, North Jakarta.

The visit was a follow up to the residents' meeting after the demonstration expressing their opinions on Friday (3/21).
City Ensures Residents Impacted by Rorotan RDF Well HandledJakarta Environmental Agency's Integrated Waste Management Unit Head, Agung Pujo Winarko said this meeting with residents is to fulfill the commitment regarding emptying waste in bunkers, residue warehouses, and RDF product warehouses.
"We want around with the residents to check the RDF condition. They were happy since their request has been realized," he said, Tuesday (3/24).
In this meeting, Agung added, his side has reached an agreement that Rorotan RDF no longer produces unpleasant odors and smoke. The agency also received input from residents to improve the RDF.
"We are always open to receive input from residents. One of the inputs is the addition of exhaust gas control in RDF combustion," he added.
He hopes that the smoke and unpleasant odor issue has been resolved. His side will also temporarily stop Rorotan RDF operation for the sake of residents running their fasting and celebrating Eid comfortably.
"Our commitment has been realized. Hopefully there will be no more unpleasant odor issues. Another meeting with residents will be held before operating the RDF," he stated.
Meanwhile, RT 18/14 Head of Cakung Timur Urban Village, Wahyu Andre Maryono thanked the Jakarta Provincial Government for realizing its promise by temporarily stopping Rorotan RDF operation and emptying the waste and its production result.
"We have seen it directly. The bunker and warehouse are empty. RDF management has fulfilled their promise," he said.
Wahyu appealed that the agreement between the two sides can be obeyed including
holding another meeting before the operation."An evaluation will be provided together before re-operating the facility," he admitted.
