Embankment in Untung Jawa Island's Main Pier Area Repaired

The Seribu Islands Water Resources Agency (SDA) is repairing the embankment in the main pier area of Untung Jawa Island, RT 01/01, Untung Jawa Island Urban Village, South Seribu Islands Sub-district.

This embankment has an important function

Untung Jawa Island Urban Village SDA Coordinator, Mahiar said the repair of the embankment was conducted, as many of the gabion wire baskets were damaged, causing a lot of crushed stone inside them to be swept away by the sea waves.

"This embankment has an important function to withstand the impact of sea waves on the land," he expressed, Tuesday (4/15).

He explained repairs were made over a length of 150 meters by stacking stones in wire baskets that are two meters long, 1.2 meters wide, and 50 centimeters high.

"It has been ongoing since March 2025 and now it is 70 percent already. This is targeted for completion by the end of April 2025," he explained.

He added it involved 19 personnel where five makes gabion baskets and 14 other personnel for installation.

"Hopefully, it can protect the land of Untung Jawa Island from wave impacts, especially during bad weather," he hoped.

Untung Jawa Island Urban Village Head, Sidartawan expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the SDA Sub-agency for their continued vigilance in maintaining and safeguarding the wave barriers in their working area.

"I appreciate them. If the embankment is not repaired, it will have a negative impact on the surface," he said.
