Fire in Kebon Manggis Destroys a Resident's House

A fire destroyed a resident's house on Jalan Matraman Raya, RT 09/02, Kebon Manggis Urban Village, Matraman Sub-district, East Jakarta, Friday (4/25), at around 4.08 AM. It was triggered by an electricity short-circuit.

No casualties in the incident

East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency (Gulkarmat) Head, Muchtar Zakaria said the house was reportedly owned by Fairuz Thoriq.

"We immediately deployed three fire engines and 10 firefighters to the scene," he expressed, Friday (4/25).

He explained they managed to put out the flames at 4.58 AM. "Fortunately the fire did not spread to other houses," he explained.

Kebon Manggis Urban Village Head, Ibnu Fajar admitted the extinguishing process was completed quickly and no other residents' houses were burned.

"No casualties in the incident," he explained.

One of the residents, Usman (34) admitted the fire quickly grew bigger, even though the homeowners and residents had tried to put out it early but failed.

"Luckily, firefighters quickly arrived and immediately extinguished the fire," he said.
