The dredging and repair of the 712-meter-long channel on Jalan VIY II RW 06, Cideng Urban Village, Gambir, Central Jakarta, which has been underway since early April, is targeted for completion within this week.

Gambir Sub-district Water Resources (SDA) Executing Unit Head, M Imawan said 15 personnel were involved to execute the work every day.

"This dredging has touched 550 meters from 712 meters long," he expressed, Monday (4/28).

He explained the channel itself has 40 centimeters wide and 60 centimeters high. As for the mud in the channel reached five centimeters high.

Personnel in the field were also seen repairing the 41-meter-long retaining wall at the location. The work progress had touched 20 meters.

"Six personnel are deployed to replaced river stones up to 60 centimeters," he explained.

He was optimistic that dredging and repair would minimize flooding when it rained.

"So, we urge locals to take care of this channel by not littering," he stated.
