Pedestrian Bridges Repair in East Jakarta to Complete Next Month

Jakarta Bina Marga Agency is repairing several pedestrian bridges along Jalan Raya Bekasi, Cakung, East Jakarta.

The damages are almost similar

The pedestrian bridges are JPO Tipar in Cakung, JPO UT (United Tractors), JPRO Raya Bekasi Pulo Gebang, JPO Tol Cilincing, and JPO Ujung Menteng.

Jakarta Bina Marga Agency Head, Heru Suwondo said the repair is run to improve the security, safety and comfort of pedestrian bridge users.

"The damages are almost similar, so we do the repair at once. It is targeted to complete in a month. But we try to complete it in two weeks," he said, Monday (4/28).

Heru added that JPO Tipar repair is run by adding and repairing railing and moving the support poles in the middle of the road to the north and south sides of the road.

"The bridge becomes longer and safer," he added.

He continued that his side also prepares personnel to assist pedestrians crossing the road while the bride is being closed.

"We also cooperate with Kominfotik Agency to install CCTV on the bridge," he continued.

Due to limited personnel number to manage 306 pedestrian bridges, he appealed the residents to actively monitor and maintain the bridge condition.

"We appeal residents to maintain and guard the facility from theft or vandalism," he stated.
