Embankment Being Built on North Side of Untung Jawa Island

A solid cube embankment is being built on the north side of Untung Jawa Island, precisely in front of SDN Untung Jawa 01 Pagi, Jalan Bougenville, RT 02/03, Untung Jawa Urban Village, South Seribu Islands Sub-district.

Hopefully, residents feel safer and more comfortable 

Seribu Islands SDA Sub-agency Head, Mustajab said the embankment is built to protect land areas from tidal waves or locally rob.

"Previously, there was no embankment, only sandbags. This embankment also serves as a boundary for the island," he expressed, Friday (5/23).

He explained the construction of the embankment is conducted over a length of 84 meters with a solid cube arrangement of 3 to 2, or a height of 1.2 meters and a width of 80 centimeters.

"After the construction, the casting process will continue to make the embankment stronger and neater," he explained.

He added the work that involved ten personnel has been ongoing since early May 2025. It is targeted for completion next week.

"Everything went smoothly and hopefully this embankment can protect the land of Untung Jawa Island from wave impacts, especially during bad weather," he added.

The work received appreciation from RW 0 Chairman, Untung Jawa Urban Village, Basri Selamet.

"Hopefully, residents feel safer and more comfortable and protect the environment from the crashing waves," he stated.
