Rano Invites Residents to Adopt a Clean and Eco-Friendly Lifestyle

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, attended the commemoration of World Environment Day held at Martha Christina Tiahahu Literacy Park, Selong Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Saturday (6/21).

Let's adopt a clean and low-emission lifestyle

This is part of the series of celebrations for Jakarta's 498th anniversary, which carries the theme 'Our Air is Clean', in line with Jakarta's vision of becoming a green and sustainable global city.

Rano stated, World Environment Day serves as an important moment to strengthen environmental awareness among the community, while also reinforcing Jakarta's commitment to transitioning towards a sustainable city.

On that occasion, he invited all residents of Jakarta to adopt a clean and low-emission lifestyle as a concrete step to protect the environment.

He emphasized the importance of switching to public transportation and eco-friendly transportation modes as a collective effort towards a better future for Jakarta.

"Let's adopt a clean and low-emission lifestyle by prioritizing the use of public transportation and low-emission transport modes. I believe that every small effort made will become a legacy for Jakarta to meet its new role in the future," he added.

He asserted that Jakarta's efforts to become a livable and sustainable global city must be carried out consistently and involve all elements of society, including the younger generation.

He appreciated the high enthusiasm of the participants, especially the school children from various levels of education.

"It's amazing here, with almost 700 groups of schoolchildren involved, and many of them are creating tools to reduce emissions in their area," he explained.

He praised the high involvement of elementary, middle, and high school students in this activity. This reflects the younger generation's concern for air quality and their surrounding environment.

"The remarkable involvement of elementary, middle, and high school students is evident. This indicates that they care deeply about the air and their environment," he explained.

As information, at the event, Rano presented the prizes for the Clean Movement Challenge and the School Reinventing Cities Minecraft competition.
