City Council Calls on Residents to Contribute to Making Jakarta a Global City

Jakarta City Council Commission B Member, Muhammad Taufik Zulkifli, invited residents to contribute to making Jakarta one of the top 50 global cities by 2029.

How? By contributing as much as possible

"Hopefully, Jakartans can always be proud of their city. How? By contributing as much as possible through work, and by sincerely pursuing knowledge so that they can later contribute to this city," he expressed, Wednesday (6/25).

According to him, the five-century commemoration of Jakarta must serve as a starting point to realize the mandate of Law No. 2/2024 on the Special Capital Region of Jakarta.

He supported various international events such as Formula E and promotes the MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition) sector to boost the tourism industry and elevate Jakarta's position in the global city rankings.

Jakarta City Council Commission E Secretary, Justin Adrian assessed, efforts to reduce the unemployment rate are not enough by just holding job fairs. The main key lies in improving the Human Development Index (HDI) and adjusting the quality of education.

Thereby, he urged the Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik) to align the Vocational High School (SMK) curriculum with industry needs and to ensure affordable access to education for all groups.

"There must be a link and match between industry needs and the graduates we produce. This is a concrete step in efforts to reduce unemployment," he said.
