The Jakarta Government is set to hold two major carnivals this weekend. Starting with Carnival to welcome the Islamic New Year on Saturday (7/5) and Cultural Carnival on Sunday (7/6).
These two events are part of the celebration of Jakarta's 498th anniversary
Such statement was stated by Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, when he opened the grand drama performance of Prince Jayakarta "The Light of Islam in the Land of Betawi" at Taman Ismail Marjuki (TIM) Theater, Cikini, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Monday (6/30) evening.
"These two events are part of the celebration of Jakarta's 498th anniversary," he expressed, Tuesday (7/1).

It was slated to be held in the afternoon, featuring an electric torch parade involving around 10,000 students.
"There will be performances by religious musician Opick and Gigi Band, hosted by Mandra and Maudy Koesnaedi," he explained.
Next, on Sunday (7/6), there would be a Cultural Carnival themed "Jakarta in Color" featuring 8,000 martial arts practitioners from various martial arts schools in Jakarta.
The carnival would be lively with a parade of regional cultural dances such as Betawi and Bali dances, as well as a performance by Ayu Tingting as the closing act.
It would take place from around 7 AM, coinciding with Car Free Day (CFD) on the Jalan Thamrin-Sudirman area.
