Central Jakarta Mayor, Arifin, Friday (6/20), launched the Pasar Baru Festival. The activity held until tomorrow, Saturday (6/21), is an annual agenda to celebrate Jakarta anniversary.

Arifin said that his side is committed to developing the Pasar Baru area into an economic center for Central Jakarta residents.

"Pasar Baru will be a magnet for the city of Jakarta. Various plans will be implemented including the arrangement of the area and transportation modes to make it easier for residents to visit," he said.

He added that the Pasar Baru Festival will be filled with various competitions such as rowing, coloring, drawing, fashion shows and entertainment stages.

During the event opening, Arifin also launched Pasar Baru directory digital application to easy Pasar Baru visitors.

"Visitors can scan the QR Code to get all information about Pasar Baru," he added.

Aji (45), a Pasar Baru trader, stated this annual event brings positive impacts for local traders.

"Hopefully the Jakarta Provincial Government's plan in developing Pasar Baru can be realized," he hoped.
