Water Channel Repair on Pari Island to Complete Wednesday

The improvement of water channel on Jalan Pendidikan, RT 02/04, Pari Island Urban Village, Seribu Selatan District, worked by Seribu Island Water Resource Sub-agency since July 14, is targeted to complete Wednesday (7/23).

The previous drainage system was made of concrete

Seribu Island Water Resource Sub-agency's Beach Section Head, Wahyu Maulana said this repair is the continuation on Jalan Pari Utama worked in June. It is also to ensure the water channel in all Pari Island to function optimally.

"The previous drainage system was made of concrete, now we are replacing and repairing it using 10 centimeter PVC pipes," he said, Monday (7/21).

The repair of the 40 centimeter wide and 40 centimeter high channel is run along 13 meters by involving nine Blue Taskforce personnel.

Wahyu added that these improvements are part of a program to improve basic infrastructure services in the Seribu Islands region. The goal is to create a comfortable and healthy environment for coastal communities.

"Hopefully the local residents will not throw waste into the channel," he added.

One of the residents, Sumiati (47), appreciated the channel repair.

According to her, channels maintenance must be carried out routinely to prevent negative impacts such as puddles or flooding.

"Hopefully there will be no more inundation here," she hoped.
