Jakarta LRT's Boulevard Utara Summarecon Mall Station Naming Launched

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung and Deputy Governor, Rano Karno launched the naming rights for the Jakarta LRT's Boulevard Utara Summarecon Mall and the connecting bridge facilities at the Boulevard Utara Summarecon Mall Station, North Jakarta, Thursday (7/24).

reduce traffic jams in Jakarta significantly

This bridge directly connects the LRT station with the Summarecon Mall Kelapa Gading shopping center.

The inauguration marks a strategic collaboration between PT LRT Jakarta, a subsidiary of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda), and property developer PT Summarecon Agung Tbk. This collaboration is expected to be a concrete manifestation of the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) concept in Jakarta.

City Uses KLB Funds to Build Jakarta

Pramono Anung said that the naming of the LRT station as Boulevard Utara Summarecon Mall is part of the TOD concept that will continue to be developed.

"The naming right is officially inaugurated today," said Pramono.

Pramono stated that the naming rights agreement is for five years and can be extended for another five years. The bridge is expected to provide convenience for the public. It is hoped that this will increase LRT ridership and visitors to Summarecon Mall.

He also expressed optimism about increasing Jakarta LRT passenger numbers in the future. Currently, the Kelapa Gading-Velodrome Rawamangun LRT route serves around 5,000 daily passengers.

However, with the LRT route connecting Manggarai and other modes of transportation such as the Commuter Line (KRL) and Transjakarta, passenger numbers are expected to reach 70,000 per day. Furthermore, the number of passengers is expected to increase to 100,000 per day if connectivity is extended to Dukuh Atas.

"Connectivity in Jakarta is indeed being thought about seriously and in greater depth," he added.

Pramono said that Jakarta's development does not only rely on the regional budget, but also through innovation and collaboration with the private sector, such as that carried out with Summarecon Mall.

He hopes similar collaborations can be implemented in other locations to further accelerate Jakarta's development. He believes the development of TODs in other parts of Jakarta will boost public transportation passenger numbers.

"Hopefully it will reduce traffic jams in Jakarta significantly with this development," he stated.

President Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk, Adrianto P Adhi explained this naming rights agreement demonstrates Summarecon's support for public transportation. Furthermore, this collaboration is expected to increase LRT ridership.

"We really want to increase the ridership of the LRT here to optimize the utilization," he explained.

Adrianto added that his side also wants to educate the public that public transportation services in Jakarta are currently very well-developed. He hopes that more people will switch to using public transportation.

"That will make Jakarta less congested," Adrianto said.
