Over 20,000 Applicants Join Jakarta Firefighter Recruitment

The Jakarta Government's PJLP recruitment for 2025 Fire and Rescue Personnel (firefighter) positions saw unexpectedly high turnout. By the closing date on Thursday (8/14), the number of applicants had greatly surpassed the available quota.

"This morning, the number had reached 20,000 and then increased by 4,000 in no time,"

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that people's enthusiasm for firefighter recruitment had been anticipated.

"As we had predicted, if we opened 1,000 firefighter positions, the number of applicants would likely be around 21-25 times the available quota," said Pramono at Ragunan Zoo, Pasar Minggu, on Thursday (8/14).

On the first day of registration, which was Tuesday, August 12, 2025, a total of 7,000 people registered. This figure continued to increase, reaching nearly 9,000 people.

"As of yesterday, we recorded 16,000 applicants and closed it at 4 PM. This morning, the number had reached 20,000 and then increased by 4,000 in no time, even though registration closed at 4 PM," he shared.

For information, the Jakarta Provincial Government through the Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Agency officially opened recruitment for Individual Other Service Providers (PJLP) for firefighter position in 2025.

Head of Jakarta Gulkarmat Agency, Bayu Meghantara said that 1,000 positions were opened, with main requirement being Indonesian citizens aged 18-30 years old, preferably holding a Jakarta ID Card (KTP).

The distribution of positions will be placed in five Gulkarmat Sub-agencies, namely 187 positions in Central Jakarta, 211 positions in South Jakarta, 219 positions in East Jakarta, and 181 positions in North Jakarta.
