City Awaits Legal Framework to Run Free Private Schools

Jakarta Provincial Government is currently awaiting a legal framework, either in the form of a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) or a Government Regulation (PP), to run the free private school program.

We need it immediately for our preparation

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung said clear regulations are needed for Jakarta Provincial Government to immediately prepare this program implementation.

"Even though there has been a decision from the Constitutional Court, but the presidential decree has not been regulated. We need it immediately for our preparation," Pramono said, Friday (8/15).

Council Urges Free School Programs to Prioritize Principles of Fairness and Quality

Jakarta Provincial Government needs legal framework to expand the free private school program that has been implemented in 40 schools as a pilot project.

"We have 40 private schools as our pilot project of this program and it has been running," he added.

Pramono admitted Jakarta Provincial Government plans to expand this free private school program after the legal framework is issued. Pramono assessed that Jakarta is capable of implementing this program wider with its readiness.

"We will expand the program right after the legal framework is issued. Jakarta has the capability of it," he admitted.
