Jakarta Gears Up to Host POPNAS XVII and Peparpenas XI 2025

Jakarta officially hosts the National Student Sports Week (POPNAS) XVIIand the National Student Paralympic Week (PEPARPENAS) XI 2025.

This biennial event will take place from November 1 to 10, 2025, with the theme 'Achieving for the Nation'.

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) Head, Andri Yansyah asserted, the Jakarta Government is fully committed to ensuring the success of the student sports event participated in by 38 provinces across Indonesia.

He explained, the presence of 6,000–7,000 athletes and officials, competing in 23 sports and 344 events, will be a tangible proof of the vitality of Indonesian student sports.

Besides sports competitions, this is also an important moment to identify and nurture talented young athletes who will be the future of Indonesia.

"I want all provinces to be present. Let's send our athletes to Jakarta to be part of this student sports festival," he expressed, Monday (8/18).

He added, the opening ceremony is slated to be held at the Jakarta International Velodrome, Rawamangun, East Jakarta. Meanwhile, the closing ceremony will take place at the Soemantri Brojonegoro Student Arena.

Dispora has also prepared various important aspects to welcome thousands of athletes. In terms of sports branches, Jakarta ensures the readiness of all 23 sports with supportive and representative venues.

He explained, the entire venue has adequate capacity and international standards, so it is expected to create an impressive atmosphere for all participants and spectators.

"We have started beautifying the venue so that when athletes enter, they feel proud, motivated, and valued as national assets," he added.

From the transportation aspect, the committee provides full support, including Transjakarta fleet, school buses, and rental buses for athlete mobilization from venues to hotels. Moreover, special low deck buses are prepared for athletes with disabilities to make mobility easier and more comfortable.

"We have prepared the transportation, all these needs can be fulfilled," he added.

Then in terms of healthcare facilities, the his agency has coordinated with various community health centers, referral hospitals, and ambulance providers. All healthcare facilities are located near the venue to ensure quick service in case of emergencies.

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), all parties fully support this readiness," he added.

For accommodation, Jakarta has prepared hotels within a maximum of 45 minutes from the competition venue. This is expected to provide comfort for the athletes so they can perform at their best.

"The committee also ensures that the quality of hotel services meets the standards for national championship events," he added.

He mentioned that the preparations have reached around 90 percent, especially in terms of venue, transportation, and accommodation. The remaining will focus on the process of data collection for athletes by name and address, according to sports branches and event numbers.

"Basically, Jakarta wants to be a good host. We are preparing venues, transportation, and even spectators, thus POPNAS and PEPARPENAS 2025 truly become a student sports festival that ignites the fighting spirit of Indonesia's young generation," he stated.

As information, the sports disciplines contested are divided into several categories. Accuracy sports include shooting and archery. Martial arts encompass wrestling, judo, taekwondo, boxing, karate, martial art, as well as wushu (taolu and sanda). Measured sports consist of swimming, athletics, rowing, rock climbing, cycling, and weightlifting.

Then, the sports competitions include table tennis, sepak takraw, beach volleyball, indoor volleyball, badminton, tennis, basketball (5x5 and 3x3), and soccer. Meanwhile, technical sports encompass artistic gymnastics and rhythmic gymnastics.
