Jakarta Coastal Residents Urged to Be Alert for Tidal Waves

Jakarta Regional Disaster Agency (BPBD) appeals the coastal residents to be alert of tidal wave on September 1-4, 2025.

The BMKG Class I Maritime Meteorology Station in Tanjung Priok reported that there is a sea tide phenomenon that has the potential to increase the maximum sea level in the form of coastal flooding or tidal flooding in the northern coastal areas of Jakarta.

"Residents of the northern coastal areas of Jakarta such as Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, Kalibaru, Muara Angke, Tanjung Priok and the Seribu Islands are advised to anticipate the impact of maximum sea tides which have the potential to cause coastal flooding," said Isnawa Adji, Head of Jakarta BPBD, Monday (9/1).

He added that the public can monitor the latest information regarding sea waves on the page bpbd.jakarta.go.id/gelombanglaut.

"Please contact Jakarta Siaga 112 call center for an emergency situation," he stated.
