Jakarta Adds to Medal Collection from Swimming and Athletics Sports

The Jakarta contingent continues to demonstrate its dominance at the National Student Sports Week XIX (POMNas) held in Semarang and Solo, Central Java.

This gold medal achievement is hoped to boost the enthusiasm of athletes

Through the sport of Swimming, Jakarta student athlete Azzahra Permatahani won a gold medal in the 200-meter Backstroke event with a time of 2 minutes 22.12 seconds.

Gilbert Eliezer Argaperwira also won the gold medal in the men's 200-meter backstroke event with a time of 2 minutes 05.75 seconds.

Jakarta Contingent Aims for Overall Champion at POMNas XIX

Besides gold, swimming also contributed silver and bronze medals in several other events, including the 400-meter freestyle for women and the 50-meter breaststroke. The 4x100 meter medley relay team for women from Jakarta also performed impressively, finishing in first place and adding to the medal tally.

Then, the gold medals in Athletics were awarded in shot put, 10,000 meters race walk, 1,500 meters, 4x100 meters mixed relay, and 400 meters for women.

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency Head, Andri Yansyah said, the Jakarta contingent continues to evaluate the results of all matches at the POMNas XIX since the first day.

"This gold medal achievement is hoped to boost the enthusiasm of athletes in other sports to achieve optimal results," he expressed, Monday (9/22).

He added, winning gold or other medals is not only a source of pride for Jakarta but also a great motivation for all athletes to continue adding to their medal tally.

"This continuous winning momentum achieved by these athletes is hoped to be the beginning of a series of outstanding achievements for the Jakarta contingent at this year's POMNas," he said.
