Legislator Appreciates Governor Pramono's Firm Stance in Rejecting Israeli Athletes in Jakarta

Jakarta City Council Commission E Member, Oman Rohman Rakinda appreciates the Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung's firm stance who rejected the presence of Israeli gymnasts participating in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championship in Jakarta from October 19 to 25, 2025.

Highest appreciation for his stance

According to him, Pramono's decision to refuse the presence of Israeli athletes and to request that the organizers not invite the contingent is Indonesia's commitment to the Palestinian people's struggle.

"Highest appreciation for his stance in rejecting the presence of Israeli athletes," he expressed, Friday (10/10).

He also supported the decision to avoid potential unrest and public anger if Israeli athletes are allowed to compete in the capital.

He emphasized that as long as Israel does not recognize Palestinian independence, Indonesia, including the Jakarta government, will remain consistent in not recognizing the state.

"Crimes against humanity have been clearly committed by Israel in Gaza and throughout Palestine," he stated.
