Illegal Parking in South Jakarta Being Strictly Enforced

The South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency continues to strictly enforce illegal parking because it violates regulations and disrupts other road users.

South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency's Operational Controller, Ebenezer Lumban Tobing, said that illegal parking enforcement was also intensified on Jalan Widya Chandra Raya, Kuningan Barat Urban Village, Mampang Prapatan Sub-district.

"We cracked down on 13 motorbikes yesterday," he expressed, Tuesday (11/25).

He explained, it aimed to give a deterrent effect to illegal parking offenders who often use public facilities and cause traffic jam.

"What we regret more is that many pedestrians cannot use the sidewalks because they are blocked by illegal parking," he expressed, Tuesday (11/25).

According to him, the vehicles netted in the net are transported by truck to the Transportation Sub-agency and then proceed with the citation report by the police.

"We deployed 30 personnel from army and police to control the illegal parking," he explained.

He urged private vehicle users to be wise and orderly in driving, to pay attention to traffic signs, and to ensure safety. This is because public facilities are not private property, but shared property of the community that must be maintained.

"We want all drivers to be increasingly aware of the importance of city cleanliness, one of which is not parking illegally," he added.

This action received appreciation from one of the residents, Alfian (30).

"Hopefully, this can become a routine activity to alleviate traffic jam," he hoped.
