Uus Kuswanto Appointed as Jakarta's New Regional Secretary

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung officially inaugurated Uus Kuswanto as the Jakarta Regional Secretary, replacing Marullah Matali at the Jakarta City Hall on Monday (12/1).

"Today, I am inaugurating Mr. Uus Kuswanto as the Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta,"

The inauguration was carried out based on the Indonesian President Decree No. 184/TPA of 2025, signed on November 21.

"Today, I am inaugurating Mr. Uus Kuswanto as the Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta in accordance with the Presidential Decree No. 184/TPA of 2025, replacing Mr. Marullah Matali as the Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta," said Pramono.

In his remarks, Pramono expressed hope that the mandate given to the new regional secretary will be carried out with full dedication and responsibility to accelerate the achievement of development goals.

According to him, this inauguration is a step toward improving governance to transform Jakarta into a global city and a competitive, sustainable economic hub that uplifts its people.

Pramono also emphasized his commitment to applying the principle of meritocracy in filling positions within the Jakarta Provincial Government. Through this effort, every position is expected to be filled by civil servants who are professional, dedicated, and have integrity in providing optimal public services.

As the new Regional Secretary, Uus is expected to drive sunergy across all his staff to facilitate public services and strengthen Jakarta's economy. This includes accelerating digital transformation, optimizing data integration, and systematically simplifying service processes.

"I urge the newly inaugurated Regional Secretary to maintain an effective, transparent, and responsive bureaucratic culture, and to ensure policy implementation aligns with the needs and aspirations of the people," he asserted.

He noted that this effort is key to improving quality of services and public trust in the government. He also expressed his appreciation to Marullah Matali for his 29 years of dedicated service to the advancement of Jakarta.

"May this dedication inspire all civil servants of the Jakarta Provincial Government in succeeding Jakarta's future transformation," he mentioned.

Prior to his inauguration as Regional Secretary of Jakarta, Uus served as West Jakarta Mayor. He graduated from the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) in 1995.

He also previously held positions as Secretary of Jakarta Forestry Agency from 2017 to 2019, Head of West Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Sub-agency from 2016 to 2017, and Deputy Mayor of East Jakarta from January 9, 2019, to September 4, 2020.
