He explained that the regulation bans the consumption of animals that can transmit rabies, such as dogs and cats. Pramono has also instructed Satpol PP to monitor and take firm action against any violations.

Regarding the recent viral video showing a skinny tiger at Ragunan Zoo, Pramono clarified that it was old footage from the COVID-19 pandemic period and confirmed this after visiting the location.

He noted that the Jakarta Provincial Government is seriously allocating funding in the regional budget (APBD) to support animal welfare. This includes mass rabies vaccination, sterilization, food provision, and public education.

Pramono highlighted that animal welfare is an increasing global priority and plays a key role in global city rankings. Jakarta is currently ranked 71st, up from 74th out of 156 cities worldwide.

"I hope that by 2030, Jakarta can break into the top 50 global cities. How we treat animals is certainly one of the contributing factors," he shared.
