3,000 Women Celebrate Mother's Day 2025

A total of 3,000 women from various professions and women's organizations across Jakarta gathered on Thursday (12/11) to celebrate Mother's Day at the Jakarta International Velodrome, on Jalan Balap Sepeda, Jati Urban Village, Pulogadung, East Jakarta.

The event was attended by Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno, carried the theme "Towards Jakarta's 500th Anniversary: Resilient and Intelligent Women for Justice and Equality".

According to him, the Mother's Day celebration shows unwavering struggle of women in shaping the nation's future through their many roles.
"This year's theme is a promise that Jakarta's future must be built with women at the forefront," he emphasized.
On this occasion, Rano also highlighted Jakarta's achievement in recording the highest Gender Development Index in Indonesia at 96.50, along with a decline in the Gender Inequality Index to 0.147 in 2024.
He noted that these achievements are more than just statistics, as they reflect how women are increasingly trusted, given space, and taking the lead in many areas.
"This proves that when women advance, they drive the city's development forward," he added.
However, Rano reminded everyone that the struggle is far from over, especially as Jakarta faces greater challenges in becoming a top global city.
As a global city, he mentioned, Jakarta must ensure that all women can walk safely, work with dignity, and never feel alone.
"Women are not just complements, but the very core of development. They are not policy objects, but drivers of change, keepers of integrity, and weavers of the future," he stated.
"As Jakarta nears its 500th anniversary, we invite everyone to strengthen the ecosystem of family protection. Let's ensure public spaces are free from violence and open more opportunities for women to thrive," he said.
