Eid-ul Fitr, Trash Volume in City Predicts to Decrease

The City Cleanliness Department predicts the number of trash volume would decrease on the day of Ied-ul Fitr. It is because most of Jakartans left city for their hometown.

Head of City Cleanliness Department, Isnawa Adji acknowledged, approaching Ied-ul Fitr, relayed on the data last year, trash volume would decrease until D+4 ied-ul fitr.

“Commonly, trash volume would decrease ahead the festive day. Since residents left city for their hometown,” he uttered, Sunday (7/12).

According to him, on normal day, trash volume in Jakarta reached 6,700 tons and decrease after being transported to Bantar Gebang disposal site by 5,900 tons.

Yet, ahead ied-ul fitr, it would more decrease into 5,000, 4,000 until, 3,000 tons of trash. Such trash volume number remains stabile until D+2 and D+4 of ied-ul fitr. “On the D+10 the trash volume will grow up as the homecomers back to the city,” he told.

Adji explained, the decreasing of trash volume in Jakarta happen ain’t because of less consumption pattern but also as many caffes, restaurant and culinary place closed down.

“As several convection in Jakarta are closed ahead ied-ul fitr, the number of trash will decrease,” he expressed.

He added that trash volume are mostly found on the eve of ied-ul fitr, after ied prayer perform and also in a recreation site.
