Trash Volume Predicted to Hit 20% During Ramadhan

The North Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department predicts the trash volume would increase up to 20 percent during Ramadhan. The majority of the trashes is vegetables, fruits, plastics and food packages.

Predictably, the trash would increase up to 20 percent or reach 1,600 tons per day

Head of North Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, Bondan Diah Ekowati acknowledged normally, the amount of trash volume in 32 urban village per day is producing 1,340 tons.

“Predictably, the trash would increase up to 20 percent or reach 1,600 tons per day. This is because the people consumption during Ramadan will increase significantly,” she said, Wednesday (6/17).

As an anticipation, according to Ekowati, her sub-department will maximize the performance of 1,795 freelancers serving under North Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department.

"Additionally, as much as 178 dump trucks will also be maximized to transport trash at night. It aims to give convenient for residents during Ramadan,” disclosed a former of Menteng Sub-District.
