1,788 Vehicles Undergo Free Emission Testing in North Jakarta

The North Jakarta Environment Sub-agency reported that 1,788 vehicles received free emission tests in 2025, an upward trend from 1,500 in 2024.

This year’s figures exceeded our 1,700-vehicle target

North Jakarta Environment Sub-agency Head, Edy Mulyanto noted that these routine tests are deployed across six sub-districts, targeting government offices, industrial estates, and residential areas to maximize environmental impact.

"This year’s figures exceeded our 1,700-vehicle target, signaling our steadfast commitment to air quality and public health in North Jakarta," he stated, Monday (1/5).

He called on residents to take greater ownership of their vehicle’s maintenance, advocating for emission tests to be seen as a vital necessity instead of a routine formality.

"These tests go beyond a simple pass-or-fail grade.They represent a shared responsibility in safeguarding our environment and bolstering Jakarta’s vision as a sustainable metropolis," he explained.

Pollution Control and Environmental Damage Section Head, Evy Sulistiawati noted that the program included motorcycles and cars with both gasoline and diesel engines.

She assessed, the initiative saw steady growth throughout the year. The quarterly breakdown recorded 218 vehicles in the first period (February to March), 501 in the second (April to June), 523 in the third (July to September), and 546 in the year’s closing months.

"The compliance rate for four-wheeled vehicles, in particular, is looking very positive," she explained.

She hoped the program would keep pollution in check while encouraging residents to transition to greener vehicles.

"Emission testing will remain a priority this year to support our mission of enhancing air quality in Jakarta," she stressed.
