23 Trucks Deployed to Transport Waste from Kramat Jati Market

Twenty-three garbage trucks were deployed to clear piles of waste at the Kramat Jati Wholesale Market in East Jakarta, mostly generated from fruit and vegetable vendor activities.

"We're taking immediate action to clear the garbage piles and improve comfort,"

East Jakarta Environment Sub-agency Head, Monang Sinaga, said that two shovel loaders were also mobilized to accelerate the cleanup.

"We're taking immediate action to clear the garbage piles and improve comfort," he asserted on Thursday (1/8).

According to him, the cleanup is targeted for completion by Sunday (1/11).

"The waste volume at Kramat Jati Market reaches around 200 tons per day, equivalent to the daily waste production of two sub-districts," he noted.

He mentioned that today's cleanup involved personnel from the Kramat Jati Environment Task Force, supported by waste-handling trucks from the Water Body Waste Handling Unit (UPS).

Kramat Jati Environment Task Force Head, Dwi Firmansyah, added that 23 garbage trucks and three shovel loaders were deployed for the effort.

“As of 10:30 AM, 17 trucks had already transported waste from the market. We're doing our best to ensure a swift cleanup,” he stated.

He mentioned that if the weather stays clear and the queue at Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Treatment Site (TPST) is manageable, each truck could make two trips.

"Our target is to complete up to 46 waste hauls in a single day," he added.

Meanwhile, Kramat Jati Wholesale Market Manager, Agus Lamun, expressed appreciation to the East Jakarta Environment Sub-agency for its swift response to the waste issue.

"We hope incidents like this won't happen again, with regular and optimal waste collection. The garbage buildup severely disrupts market activity," he said.
