Pramono meresmikan Taman Kelinci Roci di Cilincing

Kelinci Roci Park Launched as Jakarta Ramps Up Green Initiatives

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung officially inaugurated the Rorotan Cilincing Kelinci Park (Roci) in North Jakarta on Friday (1/30).

This park is a key component of the Green Open Space

The park spans approximately 29,000 square feet (2,711.4 square meters) and is equipped with various amenities, including a retention pond, a children’s playground, gazebos, a plaza, an urban farming area, and public shelters. The project is designed to expand and enhance the quality of urban green open spaces across the capital.

"This park is a key component of the Green Open Space initiative currently being championed by the Jakarta government," he stated during the ceremony.

The Rorotan area is well-known for its rice paddies, which serve as a critical water buffer for North Jakarta. Consequently, Roci Park was engineered as a public space that marries green landscaping with ecological utility, specifically to support water management and environmental stability.

The on-site retention pond is expected to bolster flood control, while other amenities facilitate social, recreational, and educational engagement.

Beyond its role as a leisure spot, this park is designed as a community hub for social interaction and sustainability education, featuring urban farming plots and a rabbit enclosure.

This new addition is set to breathe new life into the Rorotan–Cilincing neighborhood. It stands as a shining example of Jakarta’s pledge to deliver high-quality, safe, and eco-friendly public spaces for all.

Pramono announced that the city is shifting gears by giving the green light to more small-scale neighborhood parks. He believes that even small green spaces can go a long way in benefiting the public.

"We used to only focus on massive parks, but now I’m allowing smaller plots to be developed as long as they punch above their weight for the community; this park is a case in point," he continued.

On the sidelines of the event, he also symbolically presented financial aid to 100 residents from the Kalibaru neighborhood who were affected by recent strong winds.
