Jakarta Needs Additional Electricity Power

The needs of electricity power in the city keeps growing from time to time. However currently, its availability cannot be met. Therefore, Jakarta Provincial Government will invite investors thus the needs of the power could be fulfilled.

Every year, the electricity needs increase to 7-8 percent, so the availability of electricity should be prepared so that investors want to come to Jakarta

Head of Jakarta Industry and Energy Department, Haris Pindratno stated, the needs of electricity power reaches 7.5 gigawatts per day and its amount is still less due to city development.

"There are still many companies forced to use their own generator engine. As the existing power is insufficient, for example Anggrek Park and Grand Indonesia," he stated, Wednesday (7/15).

According to him, it impacts on street lights that are still not maximal. Hence, his party thinks it needs to invite investors because at this time the electricity is only from PLN.

"Every year, the electricity needs increase to 7-8 percent, so the availability of electricity should be prepared so that investors want to come to Jakarta," he explained.

The investors, he added, will be 100 percent helped for establishing power plan. His party hopes, the investors will begin from small power first if there is limitation indeed.

"Start from small power first like 2 MW but if more power is available surely it will help, but as the geographic location of Jakarta, we appeal for using gas-fueled," he closed.
