City to Rehabilitate 56 School Buildings

Jakarta Education Department is going to rehabilitate 56 schools in the capital by spending Rp 500 billion. The effort aims to create comfort for students during teaching and learning process.

Rehabilitation of SDN Malaka 06 Stopped

Sarjoko described, those schools 56 are comprising 33 buildings of Elementary School, 18 buildings of Junior High School, 1 building of Senior High School, 3 buildings of Vocational School and 1 building of Assessment Center for Regional Policy and Institutional (P2KDK) in East Jakarta. “This is a continuity rehabilitation program in 2013 and 2014,” he explained.

He continued, the percentage of rehabilitated buildings in 2013 was 50-90 percent. Even, there several schools that have been used for teaching and learning activities like 235 State Junior High School in Pesanggrahan South Jakarta.

“Such buildings already been used. Merely finishing touch like concreted the school yard and fencing. And there are two schools more that are still in finishing process” he uttered.

Sarjoko targeted, the physical construction of those schools can be started in the upcoming August or September. Currently, it is in auction process in Jakarta Goods Procurement and Service Board (BPPBJ). "We will do physical construction in the upcoming August-September,” he explained.

He added that the condition of those 56 schools which were programmed are in severe damage and aged more than 30 years. “Generally prone to collapse building are aged over 30 years, that’s why it need to rehabilitate,” he disclosed.
